How to Teach your dog to play dead

Hello so today I will "teach" you guys...actually inform you guy s on how to teach
your pooch to play dead with the sound: BANG.

I say this many times but AS YOU GUYS KNOW I HAVE A PUG and I taught him how to
play dead and this is the way.

1. Tell your dog to sit down. Then give him a small piece of treat.

2. Tell your dog to lie down. If he doesnt know lie down, then when he is sitting down, bring the treat up to his knows and drag the treat down to the floor so he could "lie down" keep doing that until he understands how to lie down.

3. After he lies down give him another piece of treat so he will be comfortable in those positions.

4. Try to lay your dog on the side. If he doesnt want to because you are pushing him, when he is lying on the side half way with his head still up in the air, give him some treats so he is comfortable.

5. Now repeat all these steps. You can tell him to sit, lie down, and lie to the side at this point. But keep doing it until he knows it well.

6. Now do these steps again and then make him lie to the side all the way and give him some treats when his head is all the way down.

7. Repeat steps until he is comfortable. Then make your hand to a gun shape and when he sit, lie down, lay to side then say BANG and give him some treats.

8. keep doing this until he does BANG and be patient. It took forever to get my pug to play dead on command :]

BTW- if your dog already knows rollover then tell him to rollover but stop him when he is on his side and teach him BANG from there! ;)

Have fun teaching!

Ways to make your dog start playing with you

Hello as many of you guys know...(hopefully) by now that I have a pug.
I guess he is still young and wasnt taught how to play with toys from his old owner so
when i threw in a rope for him to play with or a rawhide to chew on or a squeaky plushie to fetch with he didnt know what to do.
So here are some things that I did that helped him learn.

1. I pushed his shoulder part back gently. For dogs that means "lets play"

2. Then he got very hyper and started running around the house. Then I dropped the plushie in front of him.

3. He didnt respond. He ran away. I shoved the plushie up at his mouth and started to pretend growl and he opened his mouth and started to chew at the plushie that was bugging his mouth.

4. When he actually bit in, I quickly snatched it away and threw it across the room. he ran to chase it and brang it back. (usually you have to teach your dog to fetch but my dog came and had learned it already)

5. Then I tried grabbing it out of his mouth and played tug a war.

SO try to do that if he doesnt respond, then everytime he smells it tell him good job. Everytime I did that at first he got scared but then later started playing with it.
Plus dont buy him anytoy. Trust me, Ive tried. Buy quality toys and know the type of toys your dog likes by buying varieties of toys!

Doggy Raincoat??

Hello so today I went to Petco and bought a raincoat for my Pug Optimus Prime.
They are so adorable!
They are bright yellow and has a grey belt stripe around the waist!
He looks so tiny in it and thats because I bought medium for him instead of small!
So now I have to return it but I would like to explain to you some good reasons of
why you should have a raincoat handy!

If you live in a rainy place like me, (Washington) then having a raincoat would make things alot easier for the dog and you. The dog may not like it at first but feed them some treats when they are wearing it so they feel comfy in it! Here are some pros about raincoats!

1. No more wet dog smell
2. No more doggies shaking their wet fur all over the house
3. No more soaking the bed or carpet because they rub all over the place to get the water off
4. Your dog will be less scared of the rain (if your dog IS scared of the rain.)
5. Warmer protection for your dog
6. They look adorable

Arent they a must have for dogs? ;)

Good Healthy Chew toys/edible toys for your dog!

Hello!
So I have been doing research on some good edible chew toys for my 6 month old pug!
Since he is at a teething age it is important for him to get lots of chew toys
but whats better than an EDIBLE chew toy?

So I am going to show you some good treats for your pup that wont make it sick or puke (trust me, some of the cheap rawhides made my dog puke)

1.Nylabone edibles-very tasty flavor for dogs and is hard enough for them to last and for the pups to enjoy!

2. Bully sticks-they smell horrible but hey! Sometimes it might be better to have it smell bad wheere you can just spray perfume than to have to buy new shoes because they chewed it all up right?

3. Kongs-great toy if you have good stuffers in the kong toy!!!

4. some squeaky dog stuffed animals!!!

5. Rhino rope toy! Very durable and strong!

6. Cardboard box-yes dogs will love it if you put treats in it and have lots of fun! but be sure to watch your dog so they dont eat the cardboard though!

(BECAREFUL WHEN BUYING RAWHIDES!!! some rawhides may be dangerous for your dog because they can block the cycle in their intestines!)

7.I-Qube- stuff some treats and make the doggy use their brains to get the treat out!

There are many more but those are the ones that I found very nice!

Things That Help Your Dog To Not Bark At Small Noises Inside The House(Barking of fear)

HOW are you? Are you tired of your dog barking at small noises in the house? You live in an apartment or a close built home and worried of getting kicked out because of all the barkings?
SAME HERE. As you guys know (if you read my earlier article) I got a new 6 month old pug puppy. He is at the age where he learns fear and barks at many things. When he first came home which was yesterday...it was night time and he started barking at my ferret who was in his cage in the living room. The problem is I had the house owner living underneath my house.

Scared that the owner would be mad, I did some research and experimented what would stop my rambunctious puppy to stop barking at my parents walking across the house, ferret rustling in his sleep, and just random noises. I tried many things so I don't know yet what really worked but I will tell you the things Ive tried to get him stop. The result: He now doesn't bark and sleeps well in his crate, doesn't bark at my ferret unless he is IN FRONT of the ferrets cage and only if he sees the ferret moving towards him. So pretty much a success.

1. I told him to be quiet in a quiet but firm voice. Everytime he barked, I interrupted him and told him "quiet". When he stopped barking, I said "good quiet" and rewarded him with treats. Instead of going like "SHUT UP, BEQUIET" and all that I praised him when he did good things instead of punishing him.

2. When that didn't work, I did some more research and reassured him that everything was okay. It is important to figure out WHY your puppy or dog is barking. I knew my puppy was barking not to get attention but because he was scared. He only barked when he heard footsteps or my ferret moving around in his cage. He never saw a ferret in his life so he probably was scared. Plus this was his first time here!

3. That didn't work right away either so I lifted him up, carried him around the house introducing him to all the noises in the house. It is good to get your PUPPY familiar with all the noises happening around the house so he knows he is safe. I carried him in front of my ferrets cage and told him it was our family and that it was okay, brought him to bathrooms and turned the water on and let him hear the shower and all kinds of noises. Then I brought him back in my room. He calmed down a bit.

4. After that, I put him in his crate so he felt safer. During the day we had gone on a car trip and took lots of walks so he fell asleep right away. And the dog cant bark while sleeping right? But he did snore however...

5. The next day I woke up with a earful of barks coming from my pug. He had heard people walking and ferret waking up from the cage. I told him it was okay and later my dad took him for a walk.

6. Then we fed him in front of the thing he was scared of the most. The ferrets cage. He refused to get close to my ferret but when he smelled the temptation of a milk bone dog biscuit, he ate in front of the cage and bolted away. But later he creeped up close to the cage and only barked when the ferret moved towards him.

7. Later we called him to the living room and played and trained him. Then we played with him alot in my room and he almost ignored all the small noises!

8. Now he only barks or lets out small short barks when my parents are coming towards my room or when he sees my ferret. The house is a lot quiet now and he is currently sleeping in his cage snoring loudly after a fun day of playing fetch and tug of war.

I hope you try all of this and find that it helps. If it doesnt Im sorry.
There are different methods of training each individual puppy and this way helped my dog over come the fear of a new home, new noises, and new animals.

Thanks for reading and have a great day.

:]

I got a new pug puppy!

HELLO today I am very excited because I got a new puppy!
He is a 6 month old male pug and I got him from a good friend.
The good friend had gotten him at this breeders house and had taken care of him
until he got a new puppy and his mom couldn't keep this puppy because he
was so energetic and rambunctious.

His name is Optimus as in Optimus Prime in Transformers!
COOL NAME huh ;)

He got all his vaccinations, and has no health issues.
His birthday is SO awesome! It is February 14 2010!
Valentines day!

And he was free but I had to buy a crate, brush, collar, ID, two lint rollers (pugs shed like crazy) shampoo, food and water bowls, toys so it ended up costing $160 which isn't bad at all!

But he isn't neutered so I'll have to get him neutered which costs about $70 so over $200 dollars was his adoption price.

But he was sooo worth it. He is such a sweetie, very smart, active and fun, and is friendly.
Right now he is getting used to our house and keeps barking at my ferret.
Can get annoying but oh well.
I am thinking of putting him in puppy obedience class
but I think he is behaving pretty well!

He was taught "sit, lay down, speak, and jump" from his old owner and now I taught him "paw, other paw" in just 5-10 minutes!
He even plays fetch with his chew toys now!
Pugs usually don't fetch (says pug info books) but mine fetches pretty well!

His old owner fed him only 1 meal a day with a piece of chicken breast in the evening.
Puppies are supposed to have small amounts of meals but often but ....Oh well.again.
So now I am feeding him the food the old owner fed him with (cheap Kibbles but will switch foods gradually) two times day. Two small meals a day.
He was very scared of his new environment but now he is getting better.

He is very...VERY obsessed with food and is a quick learner.
He was house trained and was trained to go potty on newspapers or outside but
since this was a new environment, he almost pooped in my room.
But ofcourse before he finished I bolted him out to my yard and let him finish there.

Over all he is a pretty well behaved and good looking for a pug.
I grew fond of pugs thanks to him and one thing funny about him
is how when I point a camera to him and aim, he stands completely still
and after Im done taking a picture, then he moves and finishes whatever he was doing!
He could be a model!
Haha...Well if you have any new dog experiences please comment or if you know some facts about pugs then that would be nice as well!

Right now he is sleeping in his crate after a fun play time and walks by me and my family members.
Im glad he is getting well and I'm proud to be a mommy to this adorable puppy.
:)
ILY Optimus!

Optimus was adopted on August 21 2010 :]

My Story of Pet's Deaths..and parting away...

HAVE you had a pet that you dearly loved? But soon had to part?
It could of been you had to give it away, you lossed it, it passed away, or the reasons could be numerous but the pain will be all painful.

Losing any thing could be hard to deal with but losing a best friend could be the hardest of all objects.

Ive had to give away many pets and many died and now I am going to tell you the stories of them.

The first dog that I remember having was a small mutt in Korea.
The mutt was named Van and had brown spots on his brown fur.
He was so soft and adorable, I loved that guy. I even have a picture of me and him sleeping together cuddled up on the sofa. I loved him alot and my parents did too.
But we soon had to move to America and couldn't bring him with us.
So we had to give it to a trustable owner. I was about 7 years old or younger at the time so I don't know how I reacted to that but I was miserable.

The next pet I had was a cat. Her name was Rosy and she was a very wild kitty. My parents and I had picked her up from a pet store after looking around for dogs or cats. She was the only one in the litter that was playing when we arrived. All the other kitties were sleeping soundly next to its mother. My mom was smiling when she spotted Rosy so we picked her out.
We brought her home and she was always getting in trouble and my mom wasn't happy but her curiosity did make everyone in my family laugh. She brought 4 kittens to our home and we had to find ways to sell them or give them away because we couldn't take care of 5 cats. So we gave them away to friends and stood in the scorching sun in front of QFC food store begging people to adopt them. (This was in Las Vegas, Nevada) Finally we kept one and named it Cloudy. He was a cute little boy that was light gray and beautiful. He and his mother would play alot and then one day Rosy started to meow at the door very early in the morning. I didnt notice but my mom didnt open the door because Rosy always went outside and came in the morning and my mom was tired of opening the door early in the morning. So after a few hours I went and looked for Rosy and Cloudy. Rosy started to meow again and did a motion where it looked like she wanted me to follow her. I did and she led me to the lower part of my porch where my dad had ladders stored up. I was calling Cloudy's name but then Rosy went underneath the deck and I saw a tiny clump underneath a ladder that had fallen after a windy night. I gasped and I quickly called my parents. My dad told me it was Cloudy and that his back bone was broken and had died. Rosy would meow and now I understood why she was so sad looking the whole time. I couldn't bare to look at Cloudy because I was crying so much. I still remember that day and still feel like a thorn is stuck in my heart. I miss Cloudy and feel sorry for him more than ever. later we moved again after about a year or two to Washington. We got an apartment and Rosy gave us three more kittens. They all looked like the same litter from Las Vegas so the father must have been the same. We decided to keep the one that looked like Cloudy and named him Cloudy. We loved them but then I dont remember why but there was an issue so we had to give them away to a shelter. So now whenever I see another cat that looks like Rosy it makes me tear up because I miss her so much.

The next pet I had was a hamster. He was a dwarf hamster and was so cute and friendly. I was so happy and I took good care of it. We (moved alot so we) had to move to another house so I was at school. This man who was driving our moving truck forgot he had a living creature inside the car in the scorching sun all day long. He should of brought it right to our house but kept driving the car around taking care of his own business. My hamster didn't have any water left in the bottle and was probably dying of heat. When he did drop it off, I ran straight for my hamsters cage because I had come back from school. I was talking to its cage saying "this is our new home! Its big too so now we can have fun in this huge house!" But I didnt hear the rustle of him moving in his cage or moving in his bedding so I opened the cage up and there he was curled up like a small tiny cotton ball. I thought he was sleeping so I poked him. He was hard and didn't breathe. I didn't want to believe it so I ran to my dad "Dad! Look at myhamster! Is he okay?" My dad shook his head and told me it was dead. Then I couldn't believe it and started to tear up. We dug a grave for it in my backyard and buried it. (This was in Las Vegas when I had Rosy)

At Las Vegas in the same house my kitty and hamster died, I got a puppy. She was a West Highland White Terrier and we named her Lily because she was white and my mom's favorite flower were white lilies. So I had all the fun experiences with her which I wont say all of them because this article is supposed to be about deaths...or parting from them....so we couldnt take care of her after a few years since we had a very busy life and economy wasnt great then and so we had to give her to my family member and I still see her til now and Im glad this story isnt as sad as others but I still wish I could have her back.

The next pet I had was another hamster. Another dwarf hamster that was all white and beautiful. Her name was Pearl and she was the most friendliest little thing ever. She lived for 2 years and throughout the two years I would play with her alot, and she would let me pet her, and she never bit anyone and was the sweetest little thing ever. When it was her last day, she was all stretched out and surprisingly looked like she was smiling and I layed her out on a soft padding out of her cage and she was growing cold and I didn't want her to die so I kept her as warm as I could and she wouldn't eat or drink and was barely opening her eyes and I put a warm lamp by her but sadly she passed away. So I buried her next to my apartment and I miss her still too....

Yeah so those are all of my pet stories. Currently I have a pet ferret which is living perfectly. He is almost 6 years old now and Im afraid because its almost time for us to part too....
But all of the pets Ive had in the past has trained me to become stronger and learn how to say good bye....R.I.P and I miss you...

Are Dogs the Right Kind of Pet For YOU?

SO you might just be considering right now to adopt a dog or a puppy.
It is important now to also consider are dogs or puppies actually fit the way you live?
Many people just fall for their adorable puppy eyes and decide that they can work something out but end up realizing what they have gotten into and sadly having to get rid of the puppy.
So continue reading to find out whether dogs are the right pet for you.

There are levels of pet care.

1. Gold fishes- the most basic pet people can have. Not basic in cleaning, but basic in size. Anyone can raise gold fishes at any home. They just don't take up too much room. So people choose this pet to let the kids know what taking care of an animal is like. Also just to enjoy their pretty fins and colors.

2. (Rodents)Hamsters/mice/rat- Rodents are popular furry pets through out the US. They are small and cuddly and also take up little room. The food is minimum and you can feed it vegitables and just regular corn, and other human food. So people enjoy having these pets because the hardest part of taking care of rodents are cleaning out their cage.

3. Bunnies- Bunnies are the next large pet after rodents. They are also very popular but because of their size they definately take up more room than rodents. They require bigger houses, fencing, and playground. They also need more hay and food. That increases the things you have to clean. So even a bunny might be a harder step towards getting a dog.

4. Kittens/Cats- Cats are the next largest pet that are popular among people. Some people might not like cats but it is a good idea to take care of all these animals before getting a dog because the dog is at the top of the largest and most care needing pet of all. (Except horses) Cats are very intelligent so they might outsmart you sometimes and cause trouble but they still are great company and their curiosity will keep you entertained for a long time.

5. NOW the level ends here. Dogs. They are the most popular but needs the most care of all. They eat more food than any of the pets mentioned here, need more grooming since they shed, need vet checkups, need ALOT of attention, need more space, need more training, need more money, need more of everything. So consider all these things and RESEARCH before buying a dog. Buying a dog may not seem much but its like adding another family member to your family so its another mouth to feed.

Now dont get me wrong! I love dogs and I think its great to have one. I am considering one myself but its not an easy decision. If you are a kid, think about who will feed and give it walks and the exercise they need. Who will literally buy the food and the supplies necessary? Probably your parents. Having a dog has TONS of great sides but can also have a few down sides which may lead to abandoning your dog.

What if you move alot? Will the dog come with you everytime?

What if you might be expecting another family member? WIll the dog stay after that family member arrives?

What if you have a family member that doesnt like dogs or are alergic to them? WIll they stay even for a moment?

WHat if you are a very busy person? Will the dog truly be happy in their new home with no one home most of the time?

These are just a few questions you should ask yourself.
Now have fun and think.
It may be frustrating now to think about all these stuff but its way more frustrating having to give up a pet. Trust me, I would know.

How to become the "Alpha" or "Leader" of your dog

If you did some research on dogs, you would know they live in packs.
Ever pack has a firm leader that leads the dogs.
Most dogs have the instinct to lead (some might not) so they will at first try to act like the alpha dog and
drag YOU around.
By reading this article, you can turn that around and have a happy trustworthy dog by your side.

First you need to learn what the alpha dog gets for being an alpha dog.
Alphas get to eat first, get better food, gets to sleep in the best spot, and gets to do whatever they please. So basically you choose what to do. Not the dog.

Some people will start giving the alpha position to their cute looking puppies without realizing it. For example, they might let the puppy or dog sleep on the sofa, bed, and feed them whenever the dog demands. This is what the Alpha would do in a pack so this is not the kind of behavior you should accept.

To become an alpha dog you must think like an alpha dog.
Yes, exactly.
So that would mean standing tall and straight and not bending over for the dog. This will show the puppy or dog that you are bigger and stronger. Deep and strong tones will give the message to your dog that you are meaning business. And when you are requesting something, don't ask them and tell them. Order them.

Now if you come across a dog who doesnt give up his position....then train him.
Teach him basic commands and when he does it, give him treats and compliment with a deep firm voice and one "good boy" or "good girl".
Walk away if the dog wont sit and do as you want him to do.
If you think he just doesnt understand, teach him over and over again.
Becoming the alpha will take patience :)

When you feed him, dont let the food out.
Make a time schedule and feed him after you are finished eating.
Dont give him his food unless he sits. If he continues to not sit, walk away.

Here are some things now that you have to do to firmly let your dog know you are the alpha.

1. Never let him do things first. Such as letting him out the door first. Or feeding.

2. Never step over him when you are walking. Make HIM move. Thats what real alphas would do.

3. Never let him sleep on your bed.

4. Dont let him have everything he wants when he wants it. Do it when you want to. For example dont pet the dog when he wants it. Do it when you want to. Alphas will be groomed and pet whenever they please so by you treating your dog the same way, it will put him in the place of an alpha dog.

5. Always praise your dog standing taller than the dog. Never lower or at his level.

Keep up this training until he finally admits you.
How do you know he admits you?
When he comes walking towards you with head slightly lowered and ears back. If he comes with his head held high and ears up, keep training.

Good luck.

What Dogs Are Best For Children? (part 1)

MANY families want their child to be familiar with animals and be friendly towards them so they decide to adopt one. But what if something goes wrong and they end up choosing the wrong breed that likes to nip on the child and act like the alpha/boss of the child? Well that is not good because your new dog might not be trying to hurt it but teach it a lesson but will end up hurting the child. SO it is your job to research and find the right breed that are easy with children.

LUCKILY if you are the type of person who already have a certain breed of dog, you can train it to become used to the child and make sure it knows the child is the master of the dog not the opposite. You can do that by reading my next article that I will write next but for now read on.

NOW let me show you different breeds from smallest to largest that will be reletivaly gentle with children. BTW- puppies tend to be more wild so a grown dog may be a good choice.

SMALL DOGS

Boston Terriers-Boston Terriers are reletivaly energetic and will be playful enough to catch up with playing with the child for hours. Because they are so loyal and friendly, they will make a great companion to the children.

Jack Russell Terriers-These breed of dogs like to play and have fun and are also extremely loyal as well so they would become a great small guard dog for your child or sibling. They are very gentle as well so they will be great buddies for the little ones.

Beagles-Beagles are one of the great dogs that loves to be around children. So they should make a fun little friend that are gentle but energetic like the child themself so it would be a safe choice.

Pugs-Pugs are generally a great pet but would be the best to have around children because of their extreme gentle personality and loyal minds. They love human attention and look very adorable too!

English Cocker Spaniels- These beautiful dogs make also one of the greatest choice to be put around children. They are very smart and will be gentle and sweet to the young children. Not only they are affectionate and loves to give out kisses, they are energetic and will love run and have a nice game of tag with the child.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniels-This breed of spaniels make an excelent choice to put with children. They are very patient and loving and loves to be cuddled and hugged which the child will do a plenty of.

Shih tzus- These cuddly, fluffy breed of dogs will make a nice fluffy huggable pet for the child and will love to be sat down on their lap and be petted all day! They are also very cute looking so they will be a popular choice among the children.

Pembroke Welsh Corgis-These dogs which were favored by the queen of England herself will make a great loyal pal of the child because of their fondness to children. They will be a great dependable breed to have around children.

Bichon Frises- These soft fluffy dogs will be a great fun pet to have around children as they are very lively and cheerful! They are not aggressive at all which makes a dog very much qualified as a good children dog.

Havaneses- These pretty and cute dogs are very smart which makes them easy to train and get used to the children. They are gentle and adorable which will also be popular among kids.

For medium size dogs that suit children as well read my (PART 2) article of "What dogs are best for children" next week!

ThankYou and
please tell many of your dog lover friends to check out our website!

That would support me very much and enough to get me an adorable dog!!

10 AWESOME THINGS ABOUT DOGS

HELLO everyone! Welcome to my 5th(?) BLOG! :D

Today I wont be going on and on about facts. It's time for some OPINION! YEAH!
I will be telling you the BEST things about dogs with my point of view. So here I go.

1. Most dogs are really loyal. They don't betray their owners if they have good owners and are trained well and grow attached to them, just like humans. I mean, you would live with your parents because you are attached to them and grew up with them right? But if you have unresponsible parents then you wouldn't be so loyal right? Well I see the same with dogs.

2. Most dogs love what you love. If you choose the right type of dog, you will realise that they love the things you love such as they love your favorite food, favorite song, and become your best buddy with the same interest. If you love laying down in bed all day then same with your dog. If you love to run and play, same with your dog. It's very surprising to me how similar dogs become to their owners. Look around, you will see a lot of similarity between a grown dog and its owner.

3. Most dogs love to play. Unless the dog never learned to play because it was abused, most normal dogs would love to have time and play with their owner. I think that is very nice because my ferret, well....he doesn't really want to play with me. Just himself. Same with the hamsters I've had in the past. Even cats sometimes but dogs, well they just love to play and please their owners!

4. Most dogs learn tricks and make their owners happy and proud. Have you tried to train your pet goldfish before? Might work but hard huh. Well most dogs and legit enough to learn many tricks from sit to go fetch me a tissue box when I sneeze. Dogs are very loyal and love to please so I love the fun I have when I get to train and teach dogs new tricks!

5. Most dogs have amazing fur! Even though dogs don't have the softest fur like hamsters or kitties, they have pretty nice short or long fur that are fun to scratch and pet. Dogs do shed but not when you brush them well enough! Plus some dogs have fur like human hair which is so cool!

6. Most dogs love snow! I don't know much about small chihuahuas that tend to be cold easily but I do know huskies and most dogs love to dig in the snow like children! It is so much fun watching the dog run and romp around the white fresh powder like it is the best thing they have ever seen in their life! Some dogs may not be sure of the snow if they have never seen it before or hate the cold or wet feeling but the dogs I know sure love snow!...Like me!

7. Most dogs are very super friendly. As long as the dog was trained well socially when they were a pup, most dogs are very friendly toward other animals and kids. Unless they are hounds or herding dogs. But still friendly towards people in generall. Have you ever seen a goldfish or a hamster or...even a kitty that pants and sticks out their tongue and roll around on their belly waiting for a nice rub when guests comeover? Probably not! :P

8. Most dogs have super soft tongue and give nice kisses. I dont know about you but I know cats. I've felt their kisses and their tongues are sure rough! But puppies and dogs, they have the softest little tongue that makes you melt if you get kissed on your chin or nose or even hands! They can tickle you and make you laugh and make you feel all warm inside!

9. Most dogs love the outdoors! I personally love outdoors and so I love how I can walk them, run with them, go hiking, go swimming, and do so much more with them! It is so much fun! I love how I dont have to be all alone if I have a dog when I go outside to exercise!

10. Lastly...Most dogs are so protective of their owners that they do whatever they can to protect them. Even if they are small or big. I had a west highland white terrier before and whenever my dad would play with me and pretend to smack me for play fight, my dog would bark and tug on my dad's pants to make him stop and growl to help me. I was so touched. From then whenever my mom would yell at me for not cleaning my room, my trustworthy dog Lily would run up to my mom and start barking because she would think she was about to attack me or something so then my mom would stop ;) Very helpful indeeed.

There are so much more great points of a dog. Cute, cuddly, active, smart, and more but these are the main points that I find highly great in a dog because of the dogs I've had in the past. They are not cute and fuzzy on the outside but also will make you feel all warm and fuzzy in the inside too. Dogs are awesome animals and you won't regret having one.

What Would You Need To Adopt An Adult Shelter Dog?

-article requested by xOCDODDXD-you can also request articles by commenting below!

SO YOU are going to adopt a dog from a shelter! What a kind and generous person you are!

Picking out a dog from the shelter is a great choice!

Especially if you are going to adopt an adult dog!

Adult dogs tend to need less supplies too!

1. You would need a kind and patient mind with a loving family. Remember, shelter dogs were hurt inner and outer so they need time to get settled in.

2. You would need doggy bowls that are not easy to tip over. It all depends if you are getting a big or small dog.

3. You need a harness, leash, and collar. Name tag would be good too!

4. You would need a brush, wired if your dog has long fur and just rubber or normal brushes if you have short haired furry dogs.

5. Dog food. Ask the shelter on what the dog was fed on for the time the dog stayed there. If you suddenly change the food the dog can get diarrea or get sick. So if you are going to change food, blend it in the dog food it usually eats little by little and take time to see how the dog is doing.

6. Doggy pooper scooper or scoopy bags :) Most dog parks have it so you can take some from there too.

7. You need dog toys and treats. Definately toys if you want to get closer to your new dog and some rawhide treats!

8. Its good to have one or two books about adult dogs or shelter dogs, or the breed of the dog. But you can find almost anything off the internet too :P

9. You would need shampoo and conditioner! You want to keep your dog clean right? Toothbrush and paste would be awesome if you have one.

10. A bed would be nice but most of the dogs I know dont sleep in beds alot. But if you put the bed next to your bed maybe he will sleep there!

11. A good trustworthy vet.

These were all the things YOU NEED for dogs. ANY DOGS practically need these. Here are some other things you might want to get.

1. Clicker for clicker training.

2. Dog clothes if you have a chihuahua on a cold climate then older dogs might not like it at first but maybe he/she will like it!

3. Maybe a good doggy friend?

Thanks for reading and have a great time visiting a local shelter :)

WAYS To Convince Your Parents to Buy You A Dog!

DID you fall in love with a cute dog in a petshop? Or a cute puppy your friend just got and you want one for yourself? Or because you are lonely and want a trustworthy companion? If you are a kid then the next step is to convince your parents who are always appearing to say "NO." Here are some tips that wont help you unless you want to do EVERYTHING, and by everything I mean EVERYTHING to get your self a dog.

Tips for when Asking Your Parents For a Puppy/Dog:

1. First do research about taking care of puppies or dogs, which ever one you want.

2. After doing research, find a breed you want and print facts about it and find videos on youtube about that dog breed that shows how cute and smart they are.

3. Calculate the cost of having a dog so that counts crates, food, foodbowls, toys, leashes, harnesses, collars, grooming tools, and shots if you want a puppy.

4. Calculate the vet cost as well.

5. Now don't go to your parents and say, "CAN I HAVE A DOG?" because unless your parents are ultimate dog lovers, they wont say "ofcourse honey, we've been waiting for you to ask us like that!" TAKE YOUR TIME unless you want them to say "NO DOGS FOREVER"

6. Find a way to explain to your parents. Such as making a powerpoint, a movie slide, animation, or whatever way.

7. On a day where your parents are in good mood, make them have a GREATER mood. Do the dishes after dinner, clean your room and make beds, find chores around the house and even massage their shoulders.

8. When they are all happy and suspicious of why you are acting like this, bring your mom in to your room and show her the videos you found and have a good time together.

9. Let her go back and rest and the next day do chores and stuff that makes your parents happy and then bring your mom and show her the powerpoint and the stuff you prepared and say "Mom please watch and listen to the whole presentation ok? I am really serious about this and I'm not joking around." Sart the powerpoint and finish off by saying "Mom may I have a dog? Summarize your powerpoint about the good parts of having a dog and also mention bad parts too so your mom doesnt have to remind you of the bad stuff. Say that you will do the things your mom likes if she gets you a dog. Say you will pay for the dog supplies and most costs because it will be your baby.

10. Dont talk about it after she leaves your bedroom door. If she is happy tell her to talk about it to your dad because dads listen more to their wife. If she is frowning and looks concerned, just dont say anything,.and just tell her to think about it.

11. If your mom was frowning, bring in your dad and do the same thing.

12. At night go kiss them goodnight and tell them to think about letting you have a dog.

13. Dont talk about letting you have a dog unless they are in a good mood.

14. At parks look at dogs and compliment how cute and active they are.

15. GOOD LUCK. this is hard, not easy because parents are tricky but there you go. I hope your parents say yes and have a great day!

What medium size dog is best for jogging and exercising?

DO you like to exercise? If you do, you might find that doing exercise alone can be boring and tiring. So how about a good loyal companion like a ...dog? Any dog can become a good jogging and exercising companion but what if you want a not too small or a not too big dog? A too big dog would be difficult to take care of and bring around and a small dog might get stepped on while running or get tired too easily. So THAT is why there are medium sized dogs! From 40-60 lbs! These dogs are just as good as large and small dogs combined so here are SOME good breeds of medium dogs that would be great for exercising and jogging without taking too much space or too less space!

What Dog Should You Adopt if You Live in an Apartment?

HOW would you feel if you were a very big dog such as a Great Dane or St.Bernard that had to live in a small home with a few squeaky toys and only 5-10 minutes to go outside to go to the bathroom and had to be rushed back in? Or how would you feel if you were a small yorkshire terrier with a good sized home but only 5-10 minutes of bathroom break and small amounts of human interaction?

If you don't choose the correct dog and learn the correct way to take care of a dog, your new dog will feel stressed and be unhappy in their new home in the apartment.

Now don't worry! This doesn't mean you can't raise a dog in an apartment! Unless your apartment manager says no....But besides that, YES you can raise a dog. The point of the statements above was so you can read on and find out HOW you can have a dog in an apartment an WHAT type of dog is BEST for apartment life!

Any dog can basically live in an apartment! Just make sure they get plenty of exercise and human interaction such as...love which surprisingly, many dogs don't get. Also remember that just because you have a small dog living in a small apartment doesn't mean the dog is comfortable and will get plenty of exercise just walking around in their home. Small or big, whether they are living in a mansion or apartment, they all require exercise. You think you can do all that? Well now I will introduce you to the BEST dogs to raise in your apartment. Enjoy the cute pictures too.

Welcome to JYPennysBlogs's Blog Page!

Hello,

My name is Jenny and I am an 8th grade Jr.High student.
I enjoy reading and learning about animals such as dogs so why not write about them too?
I started this web blog at first because I made a deal with my dad.
If I write a blog 2 times a week for 6 months, he will let me buy or adopt a dog or a puppy!
So I said yes since everything I did wasnt working. But this was my way of finally adopting one!
But I wont be just doing it for the dog. I will be helping everyone learn about each breed of popular dogs, some dog tips, how to train dogs, how to convince your parents to let you adopt a dog, and so much more!

I've had so many experiences with different animals! I've had fishes, chicks, bunnies, hamsters, kitties, cats, puppies, and dogs! Currently, I own a very playful and fun ferret and will be owning a dog as well! So I am willing to write how I convinced my parents to let me get all those animals and so much more!

So please check my blog often and let people know about my blog page!
I hope the facts I write here is helpful and correct!
Thanks everyone and have a great day!

-Jenny.
